Being in love is a wonderful feeling, but before you get to that point with any girl, you must pass by the the difficult phase called the liking phase.
If you’ve seen or known a lovely girl at school, work, or anywhere in between, and you really like her, you must also be wondering, “does she like me?”
I mean, the feeling’s gotta be mutual for it to amount to something, right?
Well, there’s no easier way to tell than this “does she like me test?”.
That said, before we get into the test, it’s important to understand the differences between liking, loving, and lusting someone. Only then will the “does she like me quiz make sense!
What’s the Difference Between Lust, Like, and Love
Considering that the three start with an L, it’s easy to understand why distinguishing between lust, like, and love may be hard for most people.
Well, the common consensus says that there are three stages of a relationship:
- When you see someone for the first time and look them in the eyes from across the room or simply swipe them right on a dating app such as Tinder, it’s called Lust.
- After going on a few dates and knowing even more about them, you start to Like
- Then, you start thinking about them all the time. You start spending more time together. You get to know their family. And that’s when you’ve reached the point of Love.
Or is it?
As it turns out, that’s not exactly how things work.
Let me elaborate.
According to Monica Parikh, the Dating and Relationship Coach in the School of Love NYC, liking someone usually happens in a quick manner, whereas loving them is a super slow process that is, as it should be, built on a healthy and strong foundation.
Moreover, liking someone obsessively can be a toxic thing. After all, you’re most likely to call or text them all the time, force them to have plans with you, stalk them on social media, etc.
Love, on the other hand, respects that each partner in a relationship is an autonomous being that seeks their own individual fulfillment – one that may not align perfectly to the other partner’s vision.
Finally, conflict can easily end a relationship in the “like” phase. In contrast, a relationship in the “love” stage can stand the test of time simply because partners who are truly in love understand that trauma is a catalyst for deeper intimacy.
So, all in all, liking someone is a wonderful thing, but doing so excessively can be unsafe for both partners. Also, a relationship based solely on “like” can be fragile, so if you’re in that phase, you ought to work slowly on developing a healthy foundation for the “love” stage.
